ATA Carnet Specifics
Malaysia Customs does accept partial shipments on ATA Carnets but it’s not encouraged. However, if you plan on doing a partial shipment on an ATA Carnet for Malaysia please ensure the person/agent handling the ATA Carnet is very careful in completing the details on the counterfoil. If there is any additional verification needed the customs process may be delayed.
Temporary importation period granted by Malaysian Customs is 3 months from the date of import. You can apply for an extension, however, the request must be made one month before the stipulated period granted for temporary permission, provided the validity period does not expired.
If holder fails to comply, penalty/compound charges imposed by Malaysian Customs ranges from RM1.00 to RM5,000.00.
