In observance of the upcoming Christmas holiday, our offices will close at 1:00PM on Thursday, December 24th and remain closed through Friday, December 25th. We will resume normal office hours on Monday, December 28th. We will also close at 3:00PM on Thursday, December 31st and remain closed through Friday, January 1st for New Year’s. Late last month, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) released its final rule on regulations that prohibit motor carriers, shippers, receivers, or transportation intermediaries from coercing drivers to operate commercial motor vehicles in violation of certain provisions of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). Reports coming out in the trade indicate that U.S. Gulf ports – from Florida to Texas – are experiencing increased import volumes of steel and project cargoes. This strong flow of project cargo is as a result of better economic conditions and a strong dollar, according to an article in the Journal of Commerce (JOC).
